About

DSC01062Hi, my name is Vanja and I stand behind the world of AmigurumiBB designs.

I have been into arts and crafts since I known about myself. All my life have been creating something. Drawing, painting, DIY anything you can imagine, worked the sculpture and pottery as well. Have to admit I am not good in photography (as you will se from the photos I’ll take and place here :), don’t know how to knit well and sew. But nothing can stop me making and creating something!

My life took me other direction. For many years worked in finances, as I like to call it “suits people”. That gave me opportunity to travel around the world, but did not satisfied my inner me. Few years ago when that kind of life of high speed and exhauster tempo started to influence my health, I left it and turned to my beloved roots of arts and crafts again.

I like to create, like to help. I like making others happy. Seeing smile on other people’s faces is what brings joy and happiness into my life and gives me energy to continue in what I do.

With amigurumi I started at the beginning of 2013. Discovered it by accident. Was working for a chameleon doll for one of nieces. That is how all this started. With one tiny chameleon! My grandmothers tought me crocheting when I was eight or nine years old, so basics (and more) I had to start on my amigurumi creations.

Just love making amigurumi. To me it feels as putting together painting (the color), sculpture (creating the shape), crafting (crocheting itself), so it fills me completely and makes me very, very happy. Final satisfaction is seeing wide smile on children’s faces having in hands one of my creations. That is priceless!

That is why I started this blog. To share my passion about amigurumi and other arts and crafts I like and do. To find out what other artists and crafters are doing. To teach others with this little that I know, and to learn as much as I can from all of you there that are wiling to share the knowledge.

Hope you will enjoy this journey in blog running with me. Looking forward to hear all your comments, bad or good. Hope you will learn something from me, enjoy in what I share and find something to share back with me and the followers.

With love,

Vanja

  3. Hi there Pearl
Got lots and lots of inspiration here

Just love your page. Been a bit stuck with what to crochet next as i am not a fan of blanket making but am going to try some of your patterns:)xM

  4. Oh, how I can relate to your story about the “suit people”. LOVE that! That cubicle lifestyle with nothing but numbers, numbers and more numbers does a ‘number’ on one’s health. I don’t miss it at all! When my right brain is the most active is when I am happiest too. Your designs are awesome and your story is wonderful. “Follow your bliss and doors will open.”

  6. Thank you so much for these beautiful patterns, I adore your work! I just started crocheting 2 months ago and came across your Lalaoopsy inspired dolls.. thought I’d have a go at one myself (altho I did wonder if I was being too ambitious!) and I’m pleased to say she has come out beautifully! Your patterns are easy to follow and great for a relative beginner like myself.
One question, would it be ok to sell my finished work as I’ve had a request for a Lalaoopsy doll already!
Many thanks for your lovely work ๐Ÿ™‚ x

    • Hi Nix,

    • I was always for arts and crafts but at certain point life took me to completely opposite direction, finances and management! That didn’t bring me any good and I am glad I am recovering through my crafts.
Thank you for your kind message, and yes I am happy to know you are from the same “branch”! ๐Ÿ™‚ You are awesome artist and crafter and I wish you all the best with your work and blog.

  11. I am always in awe when I see wonderful patterns. I’m so blessed to have found your dolls. How tall are they?
    God bless you real good

    • Hi Joyce,
Thank you for stopping by and leaving comment. Glad you like my patterns. Hope you’ll give them a try some day soon as well. Most of the dolls are 15-20 cm tall. I use medium weight yarn and work with 2,5 mm crochet hook. And always use cotton yarn. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  12. Hi Vanja,
I’m Pauline from Malaysia. Thank you for inspiring all of us! I can’t design amigurumi very well, and wow, you are really really good!! I love all your patterns, and I can’t decide which one to start first! I started with BB Dragon, and oh la la, the finished dragons look so adorable!! The first BB dragon was made for a friend’s 3 year-old daughter, she loved it to max! I made them again for my cousin as she wanted to give to her best friend as wedding present, and then I decided to put the picture up in facebook. The feedbacks were wonderful and in fact some of them requested me to make and sell to them! Question is, can I get your permission to sell them? I’m learning to design them slowly and hope they’ll be as good as yours someday! ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Thank you Pauline for kind message left. I am happy to hear you enjoyed the patterns and so did your cousins with finished toys you made ๐Ÿ™‚
Regarding the sale of the finished product, yes, please feel free to sell them.
Hope to see your designs and patterns soon! That would be wonderful. Make sure to try making them soon.

  13. I have just found your site, and I love the look of some of your dolls. I have learned how to crouchet myself. It is easy to design your own patterns?
